A Raid on a Dark Fortress
A Raid on a Dark Fortress is a time-limited Limited Voyage in Sea of Thieves available during Dark Fortress Raids.
Availability
As a Limited Voyage, A Raid on a Dark Fortress is only available during the following special events:
- Dark Fortress Raids (February 14, 2025 - February 20, 2025).
Voyage stages
The voyage takes players to any Sea Fort. This Sea Fort is surrounded by Ghost Ships, attacking the player alongside the stationary cannons found on the Fort. Upon defeating three Ghost Ships, the remaining ships will retreat.
Arriving at the Sea Fort, players will have to fight several waves of Sea Fort Phantoms, culminating in a fight with the Captain of the Fortress. Upon defeat the Captain will drop the Fortress Treasury Key.
Another wave of several ghost ships will appear after unlocking the Fortress Treasury with the Key, and after defeating three Ghost Ships again, the remaining Ghost ships will retreat.
Upon returning again to the Sea Fort there will be several more waves of Sea Fort Phantoms, with the final wave having significantly more Phantoms, and the Phantom Jailor. Upon defeating the Phantom Jailor, the Dark Treasury Cell Key will be dropped, and the voyage will be completed.
Like a normal Sea Fort, additional treasure items can be found throughout Sea Forts by searching the interactive cupboards and shelves around the Fort. A second, smaller treasure room on the top floor of each Sea Fort can be unlocked with a Fortress Store Room Key found hidden somewhere within the Fort. Furthermore an additional treasure room at the bottom of the Sea Fort, next to the main Treasury may be unlocked with the Dark Cell Key, also hidden somewhere around the fort.

Bugs

- Selecting the 'Sail To' option for this Voyage results in the rewards offered being the standard amount of Sea Fort loot, rather than the intended loot for the Dark Fortress Voyage.
- Some players have reported this issue when selecting 'Dive To' in rare cases.
- When emerging on a Sea Fort as part of a 'Dive To' that another crew has selected 'Sail To' for, there may be multiple doors on the Sea Fortress vaults, stopping the vaults from being able to be accessed.
- Selecting the 'Sail To' option for this Voyage results in the rewards offered being the standard amount of Sea Fort loot, rather than the intended loot for the Dark Fortress Voyage.
- When contesting the Fortress from another crew and sinking their ship, all phantoms on the fort may disappear, softlocking progression in the voyage.
- Some players have reported encountering multiple Captains of the Fortress waves.
- The Dark Cell Key and Fortress Store Room Key may spawn in unexpected places, or unaccessible, stopping both areas from being accessed.
- After completing the Dark Fortress, the additional doors added when the voyage is started may disappear, if the crew leaves the general area, however the treasure behind them remains, making them easily accessible.
