Festival of Giving (2022) is the annual winter holiday/Christmas themed event in Sea of Thieves. Rather than being its own independent event, as experienced in previous years, the Festival of Giving for 2022 encompasses a collection of events occurring throughout the winter holiday season.

Official summary

As another holiday season arrives, get involved in the celebrations! From gifts and Drops to frankly unhealthy amounts of grog, there’s plenty to see and do.

Even pirates like a little relaxation at the end of the year, and they’re not above throwing wild and colourful celebrations to do it. So was born the Festival of Giving! Don’t hesitate to join in these festivities packed with events and opportunities and rewards.

It’s that time of year again, friends! As 2022 draws to a close, the Sea of Thieves once more plays host to the Festival of Giving to celebrate all that’s been accomplished across another year of adventuring. There’s going to be a lot going on over the next few weeks, so here’s a handy guide to make sure you don’t miss out!

Events

( December 12, 2022 – January 11th (10am UTC))

A lot can happen in a year spent sailing the Sea of Thieves, and keeping track of everything you’ve achieved can be a challenge even for the most dedicated Logbook devotee. Not to worry though, we’ve been taking notes for you! Check out Your Story So Far for a selected statistical recap of your life of piracy.

  • Festival of Giving Twitch Stream (2022) (December 16 – December 19, 2022)
    • Tavern Decorations Grand Switch-On (December 16th @ 6:15pm UTC)
      Rare employees gather to reminisce over the events of the past year, followed by a "Grand Switch-On" ceremony to initiate the activation of the festive in-game decorations.
    • The Orb Returns (December 16 – December 19, 2022)
      following immediately after the Switch-On is the return of "The Orb" with teasers for what's in store for the future in Sea of Thieves with frequent raids to Sea of Thieves Twitch streamers, offering numerous Twitch Drops for watching.
  • Twitch Drops (December 19, 2022 – January 2, 2023)
  • Earn up to 13 items from the Frozen Horizon Set offered across four rounds of Twitch Drops (3-4 items per round) each lasting a few days.
  • Gifts & Glory Weekend (December 23 – December 26, 2022)
  • Grogmanay (December 30, 2022 - January 2, 2023)
    • Annual New Year themed event with challenges and a chance to earn a new notch on your trusty [[Grogmanay Annual Tankard.

Rewards

Festival of Giving Twitch Stream (2022)

Players can earn an orb of their own by interact with the "Great Seer of the Orb" (a Reaper's Heart Parrot) found at locations varying throughout the event.

Grogmanay (2022)

Complete Grogmanay (2022) challenges to unlock these rewards and earn a boost of Renown.
