Message in a Bottle

A Message in a Bottle is a quest source that can provide one random Quest into the Quest Radial. The quest may be a X Marks the Spot Map, Riddle Map, Bounty Parchment, Merchant Contract, or Cargo Run. These Quests are independent and do not count toward the progress of other voyages.

The bottle has a white glint, which can be seen from a distance.

Where to find

A Message in a Bottle can be found from the following sources:

• Chance to find beached above or below the shorelines of Islands
• Chance to find beached above or below the shorelines of Skeleton Forts
• Chance to find among Barrels of Plenty
• Chance to be dropped by a defeated Skeleton Ship

Rewards

Quests collected from Messages in a Bottle are more rewarding than other voyages from Trading Companies.

X Marks the Spot Map

A map of a Island (small or large) with 4 to 9 X's. Treasures can include :

• King's Chest (or Ashen King's Chest in the Devil's Roar) - most common treasure from these maps.
• Cursed Chests (rare), including :
  • Chest of a Thousand Grogs
  • Chest of Sorrow
  • Chest of Rage
  • Chest of Everlasting Sorrow
  • Chest of Boundless Sorrow

Riddle Map

A Parchment with 2-4 Riddles, leading to a Container Chest filled with gold and 3 Crowns of Hope (or Crowns of Flame in the Devil's Roar).

Bounty Parchments

For Skeleton Captains rewarding with skulls, one for each captain: 3 (on small islands) and 4 (on large islands), only one of them will be Wrathful King's Bounty Skull. (Ashen variants of skull will drop if its Devil's Roar voyage).

• 2-3 Corrupted Bounty Skull
• 1 Wrathful King's Bounty Skull

For Skeleton Lord rewarding with similar look to the one obtained in standard Bounty Voyage for the  Order of Souls. (Also Devil's Roar equivalents of those rewards will apear if the message in a bottle came from this region. )

• 3 Dark Relics (types include Hexing Skull, Mutinous Effigy and Bewitching Doll)
• 1 Wrathful King's Bounty Skull

  • Quests from a Message in a Bottle are now significantly more rewarding and likely more valuable than the Voyage already underway – so be sure to go exploring, you’ll be handsomely rewarded for your time!
  • These Quests also have been refreshed with a focus on reduced sailing times and smaller quantities of higher-value treasure to transport, improving the overall experience.

  • When collecting a Merchant Contract from a Message in a Bottle, players are now just as likely to find a Wooden Plank contract compared to other resource types such as Fruit or Cannonball contracts.

  • Message in a Bottle Cargo Runs - Cargo Runs can now be found inside Messages in a Bottle.

  • Message in Bottles - Banana Crates, Cannonball Crates and Wood Crates are now more likely to be part of Voyages discovered in a Message in a Bottle.
