Phantoms are a ghostly enemy encountered on islands and in the A Pirate's Life Tales.

Unlike ghosts or players on the Ferry of the Damned, phantoms originate from the memories of people living or dead. This means phantoms themselves are not ghosts, but rather, just a manifestation of the mind. It's said that most phantoms are forever caught repeating the same actions and movements, like a recording of the past. However, the more complex the memory then the smarter the phantom. It's these ones who often realise the truth of the situation and adapt to it, allowing them to escape from the Sea of the Damned and into the world of the living. While some Phantoms pledge loyalty to groups like the Reaper's Bones and the Dark Brethren, most are simply out to wreak havoc for fun.[1][2]

Attacks

  • Phantoms will use speed and numbers to overwhelm their enemies.
  • They can blink in and out of existence during combat to disorientate opponents before winding up a teleport attack with their cutlass drawn.
  • Phantoms utilize a vicious lunge attack, allowing them to cover great distances.
  • They wield a Cutlass, Flintlock, or Blunderbuss and are capable of swapping between them.

Strategy

  • A Phantom is vulnerable when visible. Timing an attack at the right moment is key.

Rewards

Upon defeat, Phantoms have a chance to drop:
