The Pocket Watch is an Equipment Item in Sea of Thieves, used to determine the current date and time.
Usage
Every Player Pirate acquires a Pocket Watch during their Maiden Voyage, which they can use at any time during their adventures on The Sea of Thieves. The Pocket Watch can be accessed from the Equipment Radial Menu. The Cosmetic design of the Player's Watch can be switched at Equipment Chests. These designs can be purchased from Equipment Shops and only change the visual appearance of the Item. Players can check out their own Pocket Watch in 3rd person view with the Watch Watching Emote, which is available for purchase from the Pirate Emporium for Ancient Coins.
The Pocket Watch has two interactions, one to look closely at the Watch and the other to show the time to other Player Pirates. Players can hear the ticking of the Watch when bringing it close to themselves. The Watch is used to keep track of current time and date. The watch measures the current time of day in a 12-hour format, and the current day of a 30-day month. The main use of tracking the date and time is to know how long the Crew has to finish a Trade Good Commission for the Merchant Alliance. All Merchant Quests require the delivery of Items to specific NPCs by a set date and time.
In-game hours correspond directly to real-world minutes, i.e. 1 minute of real time passes for an in-game hour, therefore 1 in-game day = 24 real minutes.
There are various other things that players can track with their Pocket Watch:
- Every day begins at 6 am. At the start of every day, the Voyage stock of Trading Company Representatives is refreshed. This is also the time when Chickens crow.
- The stock sold by Traders on Sea Posts is refreshed every day at 12 am (midnight).
- Sunrise begins at 4:30 am and ends at 6 am.
- The sunset period during which special music plays while a player is sitting begins at 7:30 pm and ends at 10:10 pm.
- At around 3 am every night, Players can hear the Kraken moan.
- If you are not sure whether the Watch is displaying AM or PM times, check the position of the Sun. If it is coming from the East, it's morning, if it is heading West, it's evening.
There is a functioning Pocket Watch on a cupboard inside the Captain's Quarters of every Galleon.
Variants
All new players are equipped with a basic Sailor Pocket Watch by default. Other versions are available for purchase from the Equipment Shop and various Companies.
