Traps are a type of throwable in Sea of Thieves. They can be deployed and buried to damage unsuspecting enemies. They can also be enhanced by adding items into its loader.

Where to find

Traps have a chance to be found in Resource Barrels, Storage Crates, Rowboat Chests and Skeleton Ships.

Usage

Throw: Primary Use will throw a trap down to the ground. It is automatically armed upon landing.
- Deals 26 damage and inflicts a brief limp.
- A limit of two deployed Traps can be active per player at a time.
Offer item: Secondary Use will extend the hand out, allowing the trap to be taken by another player.
Bury trap: Traps can be partially buried beneath soft surfaces for a more concealed surprise.

Players can approach a deployed trap while crouched to access an options menu to disarm or load a trap:

Loader: Enhance a trap by loading a single throwable, firework, Signal Flare or green Cursed Cannonball. The loaded item's effect is triggered when the trap snaps shut.
Disarm: The disarmed trap will be recovered to the player's inventory for later use.

A deployed trap can be destroyed if it takes damage.

Storage

Up to 5 Traps can be held in a player's inventory at one time.
A single Traps can be loaded into any Cannon, signified by orange smoke spilling out of the Cannon's muzzle.
Up to 99 Traps can be stored in one storage space of a Barrel at a time. A single Ship's Cannonball Barrel can carry up to 3 pages worth (i.e. 4752) of Traps.
Up to 20 Traps can be stored in one storage space of the Rowboat Chest. A single Rowboat's Chest can carry a maximum of 2 pages worth (i.e. 640) of Traps.
Up to 99 Traps can be stored in one storage space of a Storage Crate. A single Storage Crate can carry up to 1584 Traps.

	Pitfall Practitioner	Complete all other trap Commendations.	Unlocks the Sai Throwing Knives for purchase. (Required to unlock the Chest of Legends Disguise for purchase, in conjunction with Hoarder of Athena's Fortune.)
	Pirate of Magnificent Mischief	Complete all Commendations for the Lure, Poison and Black Powder Darts, as well as crouching, disguises, hanging points and traps.	Rewards the Pirate of Magnificent Mischief Title. Unlocks the Monstrous Mask of Mayhem for purchase.
