2018 design
The original Sea of Thieves Limited Edition controller first released in February 2018, available from retailers ahead of the game's release. It was available for a limited time and featured a tactile splatter pattern intended to be reminiscent of "barnacles" having covered the controller from its time spent on the sea. This was achieved via "a bespoke laser-etching solution". There is also a glow-in-the-dark "Reaper's Mark" and a translucent case with a gradient color fade.
Included with the controller is an exclusive code for the Ferryman Pack, a 14-day Xbox Live Gold trial and a 14-day Xbox Game Pass trial.
The Devourer
An "extremely limited-edition" Sea of Thieves controller featuring stylized artwork of The Hungering One Megalodon is offered through a time-limited Microsoft Rewards Sweepstakes from Monday March 31, 2025 to May 12, 2025. The sweepstakes is open to legal residents of the 50 United States, D.C. and Puerto Rico, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany.
Entries for the sweepstakes requires redeeming Microsoft Rewards Points. There are three entry package options to choose from:
- 1 entry = 200 points
- 5 entries = 500 points
- 25 = 1,000 points
