What's with the individual articles on statues? They are adequately explained in The Sunken Curse and possess minor differences that aren't substantial enough for separate articles altogether. Dannenheim (talk) 03:39, 26 July 2019 (UTC)

It is for the convenience of the Wiki User. A proper wiki should have pages for a category and all of its branching articles. These minor differences will not be substantial when looking at the other pages, but it will be substantial for the person who is searching for the one statue instead of knowing how to search for the group. You have to keep the end-user of the wiki in mind and make things as open and accessible for them as possible.

For the case of Mermaid Statues, just stopping at the general pages of Cursed Mermaid Statues and Mermaid Gems would suffice. Examining a variant in context among others is important to understand its value, taking an extra step here seems like information is being regurgitated in an effort to be salient. We can agree to disagree. I believe that having the same information on multiple pages does not hurt the wiki, but instead guarantees that the interested parties have access to the relevant information from as many access points as possible. I intend to work on creating a family/category tree for most of the independent entities in the game, as that allows for people to access the information to that individual item, or the group in general if they look at either of the pages. Besides having a tree for the Mermaid Gems like Treasure -> Treasure Chests -> Captain's Chest (in this case Treasure -> Mermaid Gems -> Sapphire Mermaid Gem; with the | source of the infobox being Sapphire Cursed Mermaid Statue) allows for us to work with useful templates and algorithms later on in the project, to work in any new Treasure or other entities to the Wiki with relative ease and automation. This is something that we agreed on with the team at our Wiki Discord. Whether you agree with this stance or not is okay with me, what is not okay with me is deleting relevant pages without communication. If you can, please take part in our group discussions and propose your ideas to the team in the future. It took me an hour to fix the mess from yesterday. --EdmundKeppler (talk) 08:34, 27 July 2019 (UTC)

Regarding the mentioning of the Sea Dogs on this page

I noticed while jumping random pages that this article (and I assume the other two to match) mention the Sea Dogs as a nonviable place to turn in Mermaid Gems. I was going to put foreword the idea to remove it from the page, but I've also noticed that Athena's Fortune no longer accepts Mermaid Gems, so it would make the most sense to swap the exceptions out. Don't want to overstep and just do it, so let me know what to do here if anything. --GeneralN0m (talk) 06:51, 3 July 2024 (UTC)
