Seagulls are a type of passive Creature in Sea of Thieves. Flying in circular flocks above the ocean, they indicate the presence of a variety of landmarks in the water itself.

Seagull flocks come in two sizes, small and large. Each has a varying number of birds and radius which they circle around. Small flocks of birds typically indicate a location where Barrels of Plenty can be found. Conversely, large flocks of Seagulls typically indicate the presence of Shipwrecks.

Additionally, flocks of Seagulls spawn above undisturbed piles of Treasure dropped by Skeleton Ships, Megalodons, and Kraken tentacles. These piles disappear when any Treasure item in said pile is touched.

Trivia

  • The Seagull's appearance may have been inspired by the real-life European Herring Gull.
  • Seagulls are notably more difficult to spot within The Wilds The Wilds due to its dark atmosphere. As such, Voyages that require looking for seagulls, such as Lost Shipments may be significantly more challenging to complete.
