A Skeleton Fort is a type of island location that has been fortified with defence towers and a central stronghold structure containing a vault underneath.

These locations can be active hosts to a raid style world event, indicated by a large skull cloud above its location, during which time it will be occupied by skeleton forces and its stronghold vault will contain a variety of treasure. This encounter will be either in the form of a regular Skeleton Fort encounter or the lucrative Fort of Fortune.

Description

Every Fort island is set up like a Motte and Bailey Castle with the main structure built on top of a hill with a heavily fortified courtyard below. The fortification structures surrounding the stronghold are made of plain wood, however they are surrounded by spikes on shorelines and guard towers both built on the walls and inside the surrounding shorelines. Most of the in-land towers are fitted with Cannons and Barrels with two featuring Ammo Chests. The sea-towers all contain 3 Cannons and a few Barrels. The main Stronghold structure has 3-4 floors and a Treasure Vault below it that becomes locked during a Skeleton Fort World Event.

Features

An ominous skull cloud appears over an active Skeleton Fort.

World Events

Regular Skeleton Fort

Occasionally, one Skeleton Fort can become occupied by skeletons with a stash of treasure in its Stronghold Vault. An active fort is indicated by a green-eyed, skull shaped cloud in the sky above the active location. During this world event, the cannons on land and in towers will be occupied by skeletons who will target approaching player ships. A regular Skeleton Fort encounter will consist of 12 waves of skeletons, three "boss" waves with a Skeleton Captain, an Ashen Guardian and Ashen Key Master, followed by a final wave with a Skeleton Lord. The Skeleton Lord will drop a Stronghold Key that opens the locked Stronghold Vault below the main structure.

Fort of Fortune

Main article: Fort of Fortune

Rarely, a Fort of Fortune can occupy a Skeleton Fort. This world event, indicated by a red-eyed, skull shaped cloud with a red scar across its head, is a more difficult encounter than the regular variety. Players will take on 18 waves of skeletons, with the last three waves hosting one Skeleton Lord, then two Skeleton Lords, and finally one Ashen Lord respectively.

A Fort of Fortune Stronghold Vault will contain a huge quantity of valuable treasure including one Chest of Legends.
