Pieces o' Eight is a type of currency used in the Sea of Thieves: The Legend of Monkey Island series of Tall Tales for Sea of Thieves. Citizens and shop keepers of Mêlée Island deal in this currency rather than the usual gold and Doubloons accepted in the Sea of Thieves.
Pieces o' Eight are stored in the player's Quest Radial rather than the permanent inventory where other currencies are stored. The currency acts like a Quest Item and is only carried by the player during an active Tall Tale where it can be used. The amount carried by a player depends on their current Tale progress and is only saved with Tall Tale Checkpoints.
Obtaining
Pieces o' Eight can be discovered as a single coins, or as a Pieces o' Eight Pouch containing variable amounts.

- The Tri-lsland Chamber of Commerce banned gold-based currency to avoid the chance of cursed currency entering the ecosystem.
- This type of currency is based on the Real-life Spanish dollar coins.
