Dialogue
The Journey to Mêlée Island
Upon entering the back dining room of the Scumm Bar for the first time:
First Interaction:
Back again? You're persistent, I'll give you that...
Where's the Governor's Mansion?
Decided to chance your luck with the Governor's guards, eh? Well, you can't miss the place.
Head up through town and through the archway below the Clock Tower to find a cliffside path that'll take you straight to the Governor's doorstep.
Seems easy enough to find.
You might think so, but the fact of the matter is that the guards will turn you away unless you've got an official invitation.
Now, I don't know where you'd go about acquiring such a thing, but there's one particular Citizen whose speciality is finding what you need...-

Where are all of the Trading Companies?
You mean, purveyours of tea, silks, that sort of thing? We don't allow them to operate here on Mêlée.
A pirate's got to eat, though, so we do take in shipments of goods from other islands. One of them sank in the docks just the other day, in fact.
And then they're sold in stores?
Pah, what do I look like, a merchant? All I know is, the Governor keeps this place running just fine! We're never wanting for supplies.
If you're peckish and low on funds, you could always find a fishing rod. See if you can't catch some supper that way...-

How did you get to be in charge?
Each of us underwent the Three Trials way back when and became mighty pirates, when it was still possible for mere mortals to succeed.
But since you ask, I'll let you in on a little secret... The trick of being in charge is to make yourself look important.
That's why we took the best table in the house for ourselves and lined ourselves up here, all official-like.
That's it?
Well there's no need to be like that about it. There's plenty of other pirates who wish they'd thought of it first!-

There's a talking skull behind you!
Ah, pay him no heed or he'll talk your ear off all night. Claims to hail from somewhere called Sailor's Grave, wherever that may be.
It doesn't bother you?
Only when he starts up with a shanty! I've never heard such a tuneless talentless assault against the performing arts.
He claims it's the best he can do on account of lacking a full set of vocal cords, but if you ask me, he's just doing it for the attention.
After trading the Cute Monkey Toy with Spiffy's Femur Bone:
After defeating LeChuck's Guards:
What was all that commotion?
The town was attacked by LeChuck!
Well, that'd explain it! I'm sure the Legend of Monkey Island gave him the beating he deserves.
That fool LeChuck can't get over his pointless infatuation with the Governor's wife, Elaine. Even when she told him to drop dead, he actually did it.
Must've been quite a brawl, though... I wish I could have been there to see the Legend in action for myself!-

The Quest for Guybrush
Before speaking to Corina:
We're engaged in Important Pirate Business right now. Come and see us later.
Speaking with any of the Pirate Leaders after having talked to Corina:
(The initial dialogue menu text will vary depending on the Pirate Leader the player interacts with.)
This had better be worth interrupting our grog...
I met the Governor. I'm ready to undertake the Trials.
After selecting "I met the Governor. I'm ready to undertake the Trials" in the previous dialogue:
After having begun the the Three Legendary Trials:
I remember undertaking the Trial of Thievery myself... Wound up in jail for a spell, but it was worth it!
Tell me more about the Trial of Thievery.
Well, you can't just steal any old treasure and call yourself a true pirate.
We want you to procure a very special item – the same idol snatched by the Legend of Monkey Island!
It used to be hidden in the Governor's Mansion, but now it's in the hands of a shifty ship salesman named Stan.
He uses it to lure curious pirates out to his business.
The man's a born swindler, and all the threats and bargains in the world won't faze him. You'll need to make him think he's got the upper hand...-

After completing the Trial of Thievery:
A born burglar you may be, but the Legendary Trials aren't over. The other Pirate Leaders still have tasks...
After completing all the Three Legendary Trials:
I never thought this day would come again. You've conquered the Legendary Trials and become a true pirate!
After completing Corina's plan:
I'm trying not to think about what happened with the Governor. It's all a little confusing... not to mention humiliating!
