The Skull of Siren Song is a weapon and treasure in Sea of Thieves.
Lore
According to Tasha, Briggsy once told to her that more "holes" or small "tunnels" are forming between the Sea of Thieves and the Sea of the Damned. Because of that, many ancient artifacts like the Skull of Siren Song or the Horn of Fair Winds found their way into the Sea of Thieves.
During Briggsy's stay at the Tavern of Legends, she mentioned that "the right Skull of Siren Song" has yet to be found, which means that she looks for a specific one to use for unknown purposes.
Cursed Effects
When obtained, the Skull of Siren Song will emit a purple beacon, similar to a Reaper's Chest, and be marked on the Map Table. These are visible to all pirates who have opted in to the Skull of Siren Song Voyage. The Skull must then be brought to Briggsy on the marked island, revealed by a swirling purple and blue swirling beacon, to receive rewards. However, when the Skull of Siren Song is on a Ship, it will apply a curse to the ship, slowing it down and applying a purple and blue effect similar to the Curse of Sunken Sorrow to the Ship's deck and sails. The curse's effects also scale to ship type. For example, a Galleon will be slowed more than a Sloop while the Skull is aboard. Finally, when taken ashore, it will cause Coral Skeletons to spawn nearby to attack the Pirate carrying it.
Mechanics
While the Skull of Siren Song mostly acts identically to all Treasure Items, it is unique in that it can also be used as a Weapon. The Skull of Siren Song contains a certain amount of charge, marked by the glowing barnacles along the top of the Skull's surface. When held in hand, Players can make the Skull spew damaging soundwaves by holding down Primary Interact ( /
by default). The soundwaves rapidly deal damage to any Enemies and Player Pirates in a large cone, similar to the stream of fire from an Ashen Winds Skull. As the skull is used, its charge will gradually be depleted, marked by the barnacles along the top of the Skull losing their glow. Players are encouraged to use the Skull to defend themselves until they can give it to Briggsy, and its value does not decrease as its charge is consumed.
Where to find
The Skull of Siren Song is contained within the Chest of Siren Song, which must be opened with the corresponding Key of Siren Song.
Rewards
The Skull of Siren Song can be given to Briggsy on the marked island while the competitive Skull of Siren Song Voyage is active.
