Lore

Curious of what lands and riches lay hidden away within the Devil's Shroud, Captain Grace Morrow formed a small alliance of pirates dedicated to venturing into these unknown lands. They considered these yet unexplored lands as the "Forsaken Shores", and named their own alliance as such.

To counteract the dangerous effects of the Devil's Shroud, Captain Morrow's ship the Shroudbreaker was affixed with an enchanted Figurehead, which allowed the alliance to travel through the dangerous waters unharmed by its effects.

Discoveries

On the 12th day of their voyage[1] the crew of the Forsaken Shores Alliance discovered a new region of islands distinguished by its numerous active volcanoes and rocky landmasses. The area was named 'The Devil's Roar'. On the same day, Stitcher Jim uncovered a mysterious chest half-buried in the sand of an unknown island. The alliance brought this chest on board and stowed it in the ship's cabin. This box would later be known as the Box of Wondrous Secrets.

Betrayal

Around the 52nd day of the excursion[1], Stitcher Jim, enchanted by the Box of Wondrous Secrets enacted a plot to murder the other members of the Forsaken Shores Alliance, desiring to keep the Box of Wondrous Secrets for himself and later present it to his master, The Gold Hoarder. As the Ferry of the Damned did not exist during this time, their deaths were permanent, and their remains became landmarks on the islands where they perished.

Stitcher Jim's plot proved highly successful; Ruby Carter fell to her death on the island that would become known as Ruby's Fall, 'Flintlock' Bert was trapped by rocks and left to die at Flintlock Peninsula, 'Fetcher' Farley was murdered with a Cutlass at Fetcher's Rest, Hepzibah Jones was marooned on The Forsaken Brink, and Old Coop died at The Devil's Thirst due to poisoned Grog. However, his attempt to murder Captain Grace Morrow by poisoning would prove unsuccessful. With her remaining strength, Captain Morrow successfully drove Stitcher Jim out of The Devil's Roar. Following this, Captain Morrow swore to protect the region from Stitcher Jim and his plans.

The Roar Exposed

Grace Morrow would live alone in The Devil's Roar for an unknown number of years before her ship was eventually destroyed. Remnants of the Shroudbreaker's enchanted Figurehead drifted through the water into The Devil's Shroud, pushing back the Shroud and revealing The Devil's Roar to the rest of The Sea of Thieves.

Curious explorers began sailing into the newly revealed lands. Soon, individuals representing the various Trading Companies and Shops across The Sea of Thieves colonized the island where the remains of the Shroudbreaker was located, eventually becoming what is now known as Morrow's Peak Outpost.
