Pig Crate
A Pig Crate is an Animal Crate used for capturing, transporting and delivering Pigs to the Merchant Alliance Trading Company in Sea of Thieves.
Where to Find?
There are two sources for acquiring Pig Crates. A crew can pick up a set amount of Pig Crates from any Merchant Alliance Representative at Outposts if they pick up a Merchant Voyage that requires the delivery of Pigs. The number of Pig Crates is equal to the number of requested Pigs on the Trade Good Ledger.
Singular Pig Crates can also be found either beached or stashed away on Islands. They can appear on Islands that don't have Pigs on them.
Mechanics
A Pig Crate has no value on its own and cannot be sold back to the Merchant Alliance by itself. The Crates are only valuable when carrying a Pig inside it. Player Crews will have to take the Crate to Islands that spawn Pigs and manually capture the Animals.
A Player Pirate can capture a Pig inside a Crate if they are holding the Crate in hand and are above a Pig. A prompt will appear, indicating that the Pig can be captured inside the Crate, although Pigs are quite quick on their feet and may need some chasing to capture. Once captured, the Pig can then be delivered back to any Merchant Alliance Representatives on Outposts and sold for Gold and Reputation. Note that Pigs need to be fed Fruit every now and then, or they will starve and die. A starving Pig will sit down and start making a whining noise.
On their own, captured Pigs are not worth much Gold and Reputation. However, if a Crew has acquired a Trade Good Commission that requests the delivery of specific Pigs to a specific Outpost in time, completing the Commission will reward players with 10 times as much Gold and Reputation for the Pigs.
Rewards
There are four tiers of Pigs, distinguished by their colouring, that can be captured in a Pig Crate.
A Pig is worth 10x more Gold when commissioned through a Merchant Voyage.

Notes
- Pigs can die inside Crates when they take damage or starve. Try to keep them safe from sources of damage like Cannonball fire, Fire, Weapons or even Poison if you're also transporting Snakes.
- When a Pig dies in a Crate, it leaves behind Uncooked (or Burnt or Cooked when killed by fire) Pork on the floor of the Crate.
- Interestingly, Pig Crates with live Pigs in them can be buried and retrieved without any consequences. In fact, this can be ideal when visiting Islands for long periods of time, as Pigs will not starve while buried.
