Trinkets are decorative items in Sea of Thieves. They can be used to decorate Captained ships or Taverns at designated Trinket spots. The owner of a Captained ship can choose to allow or deny other crewmates from customising the ship through the Captain's Permissions found under the "My Crew" Game Options.

While Captained ships and some methods of unlocking Trinkets are only available in High Seas, Trinkets can still be used on other Trinket spots in Safer Seas.

Types of Trinkets

Trinkets come in one of two types:

Trophies

Trophies are acquired through leveling a Pirate Milestones, then purchased for gold from the Shipwright Shop. Trophy bases and frames have four tiers of quality (Admired, Prized, Treasured and Cherished) and are acquired by progressing through the higher Class levels on the corresponding Milestones.

Each Trophy can only be placed in one location at a time per Captained ship.

Ornaments

Ornaments may be acquired through a range of methods and may have requirements to unlock, while other may not.

Each Ornament can be placed up to five times in different locations per Captained ship.

Mountpoints

Mountpoints are the designated locations where Trinkets can be place. These are indicated by an interaction prompt labelled as "Place Trinket". This will open the Trinket Box for equipping or removing a Trinket from that spot.

The following table shows the number of mountpoints per ship type.

Ship type Total Standing Hanging Floor
Sloop 24 16 7 1
Brigantine 40 21 15 4
Galleon 54 26 16 12

Nudging

Trinkets can become knocked askew by rough sailing conditions like storms or battles. Crewmates can interact with a Trinket to nudge it back into place.

Examples of conditions that can knock a Trinket out of place are:
