Grogmanay (2022) is the annual New Years themed event in Sea of Thieves for the end of 2022. The event begins on December 30, 2022 and lasts until January 2, 2023.

The event will offer six grog-based challenges for players to complete, rewarding gold and Renown. Official summary

Raise a glass! Our annual grog-inspired celebrations are here once again, with a host of challenges to get you in the festive spirit and prove to all doubters that you really can hold your drink.

All pirates share a love of grog. Grogmanay gives them an excuse to show it off. With six Challenges to complete, this Event involves accomplishing a range of feats while under the grog’s unfortunate influence. All you have to do is gulp down a tankard or three, then get to work before you sober up. Simple, right?

Completing one Challenge gets you a Grogmanay Flag. Completing two unlocks a special celebratory Firework Crate that can be picked up from the Merchant Alliance. Complete four Challenges to earn the traditional Grogmanay Tankard if it’s your first time taking part, or a new participation notch on your tankard if you’re a Grogmanay veteran. If you really want to show off your groggy prowess, complete the remaining Challenges for extra gold and Renown!

Notes

  • For the Sick Burn challenge, kills will not count if the fire is refreshed by or spread between burning skeletons. It's suggested to keep the skeletons spread out or to burn them one at a time for better results.

Trivia

  • Grogmanay is a reference to Hogmanay, the Scottish word for the last day of the year and the celebration of the New Year.
