Season Twelve is the twelfth season in Sea of Thieves. It is expected to begin on April 30, 2024, with an unknown end date.
Planned content
New Weapons
- Double-Barrel Flintlock Pistol
- A new weapon with slightly shorter range and a faster fire than the current Flintlock Pistol. Players will be able to fire 2 shots individually or both at once after a charge for a more powerful shot.
- Throwing Knives
- Will have three attack methods: a light, low-damage melee stabbing attack, a heavier high-damage charge melee stabbing attack and a ranged throwing attack. If the knife is thrown and hits an object or terrain rather than an enemy, it can be picked up by the player that threw it or any other player.
New tools
- Scattershot
- A collection of 4 small cannonballs bundled together that offers short falloff and wide spread shot, doing small (level 1 hole) damage to the ship hulls spread over an area. Ideal for wasting the opponent's resources and overwhelming them with an arrays of holes to repair.
- Bone Caller
- A new throwable that spawns 3 skeletons on impact. The skeletons will be friendly to the player who throws it, fighting alongside them against any enemy threat. This can provide a crew with additional defenses against boarding enemies.
- Wind Caller
- A limited-charge wieldable conch-like shell capable of summoning the power of the wind in any direction. The Wind Caller will be useful for speeding up a ship when fired into the sails, knocking back enemies, propelling players or rowboats through water, put out fires quickly, and even prevent fall damage.
- Ziplines
- Ziplines will be added to various islands for quick and easy vertical travel. Some examples (but not limited to): Ancient Spire Outpost, Hidden Spring Keep, The Glorious Sea Dog, Thieves' Haven, and Plunder Valley.
- Harpoon line travel
- Harpoon lines will be able to be walked across or slid down if the angle of the rope allows it. A balance minigame will be required in order to not fall off of the rope.
