Seasons in Sea of Thieves are themed periods of time where players can progress through 100 Renown Levels to earn a variety of cosmetics, titles, and currencies as rewards.

A Season will contain small monthly updates that can include new features, cosmetics, events, and additions to the Pirate Emporium.

Seasonal progression

Renown

Renown is the measure of progression in a Season. Renown can be earned passively through normal gameplay such as visiting islands, collecting treasure, battling skeletons, and so on. In addition, trials can be completed to earn large boosts to your Renown. As a player collects Renown they will advance through their Seasonal Renown Levels, unlocking unique seasonal rewards.

Trials

Seasonal Trials are specific tasks that can be done to earn additional Renown to a player's seasonal progression, allowing them to level up quicker. There are 3 types of Trials each providing different boosts:

A small boost to your renown.
A medium boost to your renown.
A large boost to your renown.

Plunder Pass

Purchasing the Plunder Pass allows players the chance to earn additional Pirate Emporium items as Season Rewards. These items are a mix of current stock, and early-access items that will be released to the Pirate Emporium at a later date after the Season ends.

The Plunder Pass can be bought for 999 Ancient Coins from the Pirate Emporium. It is also available from the Microsoft Store and Steam Item Store. Players can purchase the Plunder Pass at any point during the season and will unlock rewards for any Levels reached prior to purchase.
