Duke has been asked for help by the Order of Souls! Despite boosting their arsenal with gunpowder kegs last month, the Order found themselves raided by a nefarious crew of skeletons who stole a set of powerful artefacts known as Dark Relics, spiriting them away to far-flung corners of the sea. The Order didn't have time to determine the full extent of these Relics’ mystical properties, but they could prove to be incredibly dangerous in the wrong hands...
Dark Relics - (14th August - 11th September)
Dark Relic Voyages
Main article: Dark Relic Voyages
- Dark Relic Voyage to The Ancient Isles - This Mercenary Voyage is centered around defeating Skeleton Captains and digging up Trinkets and Dark Relics around The Ancient Isles.
- Dark Relic Voyage to The Wilds - This Mercenary Voyage is centered around defeating Skeleton Captains and digging up Trinkets and Dark Relics around The Wilds.
- Dark Relic Voyage to The Shores of Plenty - This Mercenary Voyage is centered around defeating Skeleton Captains and digging up Trinkets and Dark Relics around The Shores of Plenty.
- Athena's Dark Relic Voyage to the Devil's Roar - This Legendary Mercenary Voyage is centered around defeating Skeleton Captains and digging up Trinkets and Dark Relics around The Devil's Roar.
New items
Dark Relics
Main article: Dark Relics
The Dark Relics Content Update adds new Order of Souls Treasure to the game. For the duration of this update, they are obtained only through completing Dark Relics Voyages where you must dig for them on Fortresses and islands. The Dark Relics are as follows:
- Evil Eye - A Dark Relic that has a chance to be dug up during Dark Relic Voyages.
- Mutinous Effigy - A Dark Relic that has a chance to be dug up during Dark Relic Voyages.
- Enchantment Vessel - A Dark Relic that has a chance to be dug up during Dark Relic Voyages. This one is called Black Coffer in the Commendations.
- Hexing Skull - A Dark Relic that has a chance to be dug up during Dark Relic Voyages.
- Bewitching Doll - A Dark Relic that has a chance to be dug up during Dark Relic Voyages.
- Ritual Skull - This is an unique Dark Relic, because it can be turned in to the Mysterious Stranger for Athena's Fortune Reputation.
Reaper’s Chest
Main article: Reaper’s Chest
A new special type of treasure has been added to the game. The Reaper's Chest appears in Sunken Shipwrecks and shines a colourful beam of light into the sky that can be seen from anywhere on The Sea of Thieves. The location of a Reaper's Chest is always indicated on the Map Table. Reaper's Chests can be turned in to Duke at any Outpost Tavern for +15 Doubloons and Commendations.

- The Devil's Darkness → As a Pirate Legend, complete 'Athena's Dark Relic Voyage to The Devil's Roar' (time-limited). 10
- Seeking Stolen Power → Complete a Dark Relic Voyage from each of the main three regions (time-limited). 50
- Evil Eye Blinded → Sell an Evil Eye to the Order of Souls (time-limited). 5
- In the Right Hands → Sell a Mutinous Effigy to The Order of Souls (time-limited). 5
- May Contain Evil → Sell a Black Coffer to The Order of Souls (time-limited). 5
- Dark Dealings → Sell a Hexing Skull to The Order of Souls (time-limited). 5
- Curse Averted → Sell a Bewitching Doll to The Order of Souls (time-limited). 5
- A Dark Collection → Sell one of each type of Dark Relic to the Order of Souls (time-limited). 50
- Disrupting the Darkness → Sell 5 Ritual Skulls for the Order of Souls. 5
- The Ritual is Broken → Sell 10 Ritual Skulls for the Order of Souls. 10
- Dark Magics Dispelled → Sell five Ritual Skulls to the Mysterious Stranger. 5
- Relics Returned → Sell any 10 Dark Relics to The Order of Souls. 15
- Cursed Cargo → Sell a Reaper's Chest to Duke. 10
- Reaping Rewards → Sell 3 Reaper's Chests to Duke. 25
