The Shroudbreaker is a Quest Item.

Shroudbreakers are statues created by the Ancients that allow safe passage through the otherwise deadly Devil's Shroud.

Mechanics

An incomplete Shroudbreaker can be obtained in The Shroudbreaker Tall Tale, the rest of the Shores of Gold Story Arc focuses on finding the four jewels that power the statue. A crew will have a completed Shroudbreaker affixed to their ship for the Shores of Gold Tall Tale to sail through the Shroud and finally reach The Shores of Gold. Having the statue permits passage only into that area within the world border. The Shroudbreaker affects the Ship, not the Crew itself, meaning that Player Pirates from other Crews can hitch a ride to the Shores of Gold on another Ship.

Lore

The Ancients had been taught to create the Shroudbreakers, which enabled them to live in an area longer than the Devil's Shroud would have permitted. Ever since the civilization disappeared, what statues remained had been sealed away in vaults across the Sea of Thieves, protected by puzzles and keys.

The Forsaken Shores Alliance, lead by Grace Morrow, had a "charmed figurehead" on their lead ship, Shroudbreaker, allowing them to venture into the Devil's Shroud and discover The Devil's Roar. The ship was destroyed in a storm, leaving it beached on Morrow's Peak Outpost, while fragments of the figurehead drifted through the Shroud, parting the Shroud completely allowing unobstructed access to the Devil's Roar.

The Skeleton Lord Briggsy, seeking to free herself from her curse and servitude to The Gold Hoarder, dismantled a Shroudbreaker and hid the pieces away for years[1], long after Ramsey's crew had embarked on an expedition to uncover the means to approach the Shores of Gold. After he retired, he along with previous legend-seekers helped another crew assemble the Shroudbreaker to gain passage to the island and uncover its riches and secrets. The crew found it home to the The Gold Hoarder, and after battling the skeleton lord, the Pirate Lord congratulated the victory and had the Shroudbreaker statue placed back into its resting place for safekeeping.
