The Fifth Anniversary Community Weekend, also known as Anniversary Event Community Day, or simply Community Weekend, is a special 48-hour event for Season Nine to celebrate the Sea of Thieves Fifth Anniversary and the Sea of Thieves community. The event offers login rewards, increased Ancient Skeleton spawns, and a Community Emissary Grade multiplier on gold, reputation, Seasonal Renown and Allegiance that can be boosted up to a maximum of a 2.5x by the player community using the Twitter hashtag #SoTAnniversaryPromo.

It ran from March 25, 2023 (10:00 UTC) to March 27, 2023 (10:00 UTC).

Official summary

One of the most exciting events still to come in this anniversary month is our Community Weekend, taking place from March 25th-27th. It’s going to be a jam-packed weekend of gifts, on-sea action and an outrageous number of opportunities for loot – so to make sure you don’t miss any of the key information, we’re serving it up hot right here.

You might be thinking “hang on a second, aren’t these usually Community Days?” – and you’d be right, these types of events usually last for 24 hours and no longer. However, for this celebration we’re doubling down on the fun and offering players the opportunity to get involved across 48 hours. We’re incredibly excited to be bringing more players into this community celebration by including more social channels, and we can’t wait to see what sort of amazing content you all create across the web this time, not just on Twitter. Good times!

Rewards

Gold, reputation, Renown multiplier and Allegiance

All tweets made with the hashtag #SoTAnniversaryPromo over the duration of the community event were counted into the Community Emissary Grade, with more tweets resulting in a higher multiplier on gold, reputation, Seasonal Renown and Allegiance up to a maximum of a 2.5x until the end of the event.

Ancient Skeleton boost

Once the Community Emissary Grade hits the final rank, there will be a increase to the appearance of those Ancient Coin lugging Skeletons all across the Sea of Thieves. But they'll only be around for a limited time, once a cumulative total of 50 million Ancient Coins are rewarded to players- These skeletons will return to their earlier rare spawn rates.

The boosted appearance rate of Ancient Skeletons officially began at 15:32 UTC on March 25, 2023[1]. 40 million Ancient Coins had been claimed by 17:10 UTC on March 26[2], and at 19:30 UTC on March 26, 2023, it was announced that all 50 million Ancient Coins available for the event had been claimed[3].
