Cargo Crates
Cargo Crates are a range of treasure items in Sea of Thieves that are primarily associated the
Merchant Alliance Trading Company. Payment for these items will vary depending on the condition and timeliness of the delivery. Cargo Crates are either ordered through Cargo Run voyages, or found beached on islands. Each crate has a delivery address on it with Crates tied to Voyages or Quests requiring to be sold within a time limit. The current date and time can be tracked with the Pocket Watch.
The introduction of Season 17 brought with it an additional form of Cargo associated with the
Smugglers' League Trading Company that can be found during A Smugglers' Route Run voyages, in Smugglers' Caches, onboard Skeleton Ships and Shipwrecks. Unlike other forms of Cargo there is no time limit for delivery and only crates obtained through voyages have a specific delivery destination.

Cargo Value and Degradation
Cargo will deteriorate in value as it degrades in quality due to damage or improper storage, with no way to reverse the effects. The quality is divided into four stages, with any damage adding the following descriptor to the name:
| Cargo Type | Perfect Condition | Lightly Damaged | Badly Damaged | Destroyed |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Plants | n/a | Parched | Wilted | Shriveled |
| Cloth | n/a | Wet | Soaked | Waterlogged |
| Rum Bottles | n/a | Cracked | Splintered | Smashed |
On Time Deliveries
The gold rewards for the different states of the Crates are as follows, all non-smuggler cargo has the same values:
Late Deliveries
In addition, any cargo deemed to be late will have it's value further reduced:
Smugglers' Cargo Deliveries
Smugglers' Cargo consists only of rums which cannot be delivered late:
Bugs
- The Cargo Crates found beached on Islands have been found to be especially buggy, as sometimes they have no discernible Delivery Address, the Address is to a place that does not exist or the Addressee refuses to pay for the Goods.
