Emissary Tables

Emissary Tables are used in Sea of Thieves to represent Trading Companies and Guilds as Emissaries, or to conduct certain business when representing a Faction. Emissary Tables can be found at every Outpost, generally situated next to a representative of the organisation.

Mechanics

The purpose of Emissary Tables is to allow Player Pirates and Crews to vote to represent a single Trading Company as a Trading Company Emissary or Guild as a Guild Emissary. Emissaries receive greater rewards and Reputation gains when selling to the chosen company, or when selling to Sovereigns as a Guild Emissary. Crews can only represent a single Trading Company or Guild as an Emissary at a time.

  • To represent a Trading Company, a Player must first purchase an Emissary License for that company. This is a one-time purchase that allows the Player to initiate a vote at that company's Emissary Table to raise the Emissary Flag. Other members of the Crew may freely cast additional votes without the need for their own licenses.
  • To represent a Guild, the Guild must simply be at Reputation level 15 and a member must initiate a vote to raise the flag at the Guild Emissary Table. There is no need to purchase a license to initiate a vote.
  • Crews representing a Faction can use the hourglass on the Athena's Fortune or Reaper's Bones Emissary Table to leave the Faction, or to cash in Sands of Fate for an equivalent value in Gold. However, it's not possible to join a Faction at the table. Players must instead use the hourglass on their ship's Quest Table to join a Faction, and to initiate matchmaking.

A Crew's Ship must be docked close by in order cast a vote. Voting at Emissary Tables works identically to voting for Voyages or Tall Tales: one person must initiate the vote at the Emissary Table, and the other crew members may cast additional votes. If the majority of the crew votes in favour, the vote is immediately passed. Once the vote is passed, the Crew will be notified that they have become Emissaries for the chosen organisation, and their Ship will be adorned with the appropriate Emissary Flags. To lower the flag and no longer represent the organisation as an Emissary, the crew must initiate and pass a new vote at the same type of Emissary Table. The crew's Emissary Flag will be returned in exchange for Gold and Reputation, the value of which is determined by their Emissary Grade.

When representing as an Emissary, players are able to see small ship models on the Quest Table, which shows how many Crews are representing the same organisation on the seas at the present time. It is up for the Crews to decide whether to co-operate or compete with one another.

Table Locations

Every Outpost has an Emissary Table for each of the Trading Companies that can be represented as Emissaries, as well as a table to represent a Guild as a Guild Emissary. Most of the Emissary Tables have a consistent location at every Outpost, though some vary in where they are situated.

Bilge Rats, Sea Dogs, and The Hunter's Call do not have Emissary Tables, as these organisations cannot be represented as Emissaries.

Reaper's Bones Tables

Unlike the other Emissary Tables, which have consistent locations at each Outpost, the location of the Reaper's Bones table varies at each one. An Emissary Table can also be found at the The Reaper’s Hideout.

Rewards

Any Players who have reached above Emissary Grade II with a Trading Company can return their Emissary Flag back to the company's Emissary Table for a generous Gold payout and Reputation increase. This can be done by voting to lower the Emissary Flag at the Tables. Note that your Ship has to be nearby for the vote to be possible. This reward is not applicable for Broken Emissary Flags, which are retrieved from sunken Emissary Ships.

The following is a table of the Gold Rewards for returning one's Emissary Flag:
