The Wood Crate (also referred to as Crate of Wood) is a type of Resource Crate for Wooden Planks. A filled Crate can be sold to Merchant Alliance Representatives at an Outposts for Gold and Reputation at any time for a small reward, or on Commission via Trade Good Commissions for nearly double the reward when delivered to the correct NPC in the allotted Time.

Mechanics

Every Wood Crate can carry up to 50 pieces of Wooden Plank Resource items. Wood Crates can be found on the Seas with a variable amount of Wooden Planks already in them.

Player Crews can occasionally find Trade Good Commission Quests from Tattered Parchments, Messages in a Bottle or Mysterious Journals that require the delivery of a filled Wood Crate to a specific Outpost Senior Trader by a specific date and time. With this Quest present, Players can pick up an empty Wood Crate from any Senior Trader.

Wood Crates can be used as portable Wooden Plank containers to have easier access to Planks at a strategic location.

Where to find

Wood Crates can be found from the following sources:

• Wood Crates (containing 50 Planks) can be bought from the Merchant Alliance for 3,500 .
• Picked up empty from a Merchant Alliance Representative on Outposts if the Crew has an active Crate of Wood Trade Good Commission.
• Chance to find beached on the shorelines of Islands, excluding Outposts, Seaposts and Forts (with 0-50 Planks inside).
• Chance to find inside sunken Shipwrecks on the seas (with 0-50 Planks inside).
• Chance to find among Barrels of Plenty floating on the open seas (with 0-50 Planks inside).

Wood Crates that are filled with 50 Wooden Planks can be sold to:

• Merchant Alliance Senior Traders stationed at the docks of Outposts for Gold and Merchant Alliance Reputation and Emissary Value (if sailing as an Merchant Alliance Emissary)
• The Servant of the Flame at The Reaper’s Hideout for Gold and Reaper's Bones Reputation and Emissary Value (if sailing as a Reaper's Bones Emissary)

Commissioned

If Crews have an active Crate of Wood Trade Good Commission in their Map Radial Menu, they can sell a Wood Crate to the specified Senior Trader for nearly double its Gold, Reputation and Emissary Value. This bonus does not apply when sold to the Reaper's Bones Company.

Notes

• Picking up and placing Wood Crates on a Ship for the first time gives Emissary Grade Reputation to Trading Company Emissaries representing the Merchant Alliance or Reaper's Bones.
• All Resource Crates can be caught with a Harpoon.
• All Resource Crates emit a White Glint from a distance.
• Wood Crate Trade Good Commissions are exceedingly rare, making the Merchant Shipwright Title and Commendation one of the most prestiguous in-game.
