The Blunderbuss is a powerful firearm weapon in Sea of Thieves.
Usage
The Blunderbuss is the close-range Shotgun type firearm that fires a spread of 10 pellets with each shot. The Blunderbuss has a total of 5 shots before it has to be fully reloaded at an Ammo Chest or Ammo Pouch. The Blunderbuss is the most effective when aimed down the sights and fired at very close range, where targets will be struck with multiple pellets. Aiming the Blunderbuss will concentrate all the pellets to a central point, where-as firing it from the hip causes the pellets to spread in a wide cone. A point-blank shot from the Blunderbuss can be enough to kill a player at full health should all pellets hit. This makes it an incredibly effective weapon in close-combat. However, the damage of the Blunderbuss can be inconsistent and suffers from significant fall-off at range as less pellets are likely to hit the target, often losing out to the Flintlock and Eye of Reach if the user cannot close the gap. Regular, Bounty Voyage, or Fortress Skeletons take just one point-blank shots to kill, with all pellets hitting, while Athena's Fortune Voyage Skeletons take 2-3 shots. It takes 3 point-blank shots to destroy a Sapphire Cursed Mermaid Statue.

- Improvements have been made to how hit detection calculates bullets affected by gravity, providing a small improvement to hit registration for the Blunderbuss when firing at medium to long-distance targets.

- Wielding Weapons – The forced firing delay has been removed when wielding a gun after sprinting or undocking, allowing players to fire sooner. The forced firing delay when switching weapons still remains to prevent fast switching and firing between guns.

- Double-Gun Switching – Blunderbuss has new wield animations and enforce a delay when equipping and switching between these weapons.
- Blunderbuss reloads the moment the hammer is pulled. This allows players to sprint sooner when reloading without restarting the animation.
- Bullet Projectile Speed – Bullets fired from a Blunderbuss now travel faster through the air, providing more predictable accuracy at range.
- Weapon Damage Falloff – Bullet damage no longer decreases over distance.
